Class 50s take former Anglia Mk 3s to new home

- JACK BOSKETT.

GB Railfreight 50049 Defiance and 50007 Hercules lead a rake of six former Greater Anglia Mk 3s through Norton Barracks (near Worcester) on November 9. The coaches had been stored at Long Marston, but have been acquired by the Auckland Project for the Weardale Railway. They were being taken to UK Rail Leasing’s Leicester depot ahead of forwarding to the North East. The stock was Buffet Standard (TSOB) 10417 and Trailer Standards (TSO) 12015/034/084, 12108/126. The ‘50s’ are owned by the Class 50 Alliance but hired by GBRf on a regular basis for moves such as this, releasing Class 66s for other duties.
