WMCA buys land at Aldridge site

West Midlands Combined Authority has agreed to spend £400,000 acquiring land on the site of a proposed reopened station at Aldridge, on the Birmingham New Street-Walsall line.

A parcel of NHS-owned land next to the Anchor Meadow Health Centre was needed to make the project feasible, and this will now be secured.

Detailed plans are being developed for the station, but initial plans include a 150-space car park. Up to 500,000 passengers per year are expected to use the station, which could open in 2023.
