Mayor given glimpse of new Siemens LU trains

- SIEMENS MOBILITY.

On March 21, London Mayor Sadiq Khan visited Siemens’ new factory in Goole (East Yorkshire), where half of the 94 trains on order for London Underground’s Piccadilly Line will be built.

As well as touring a facility that will employ 750 people in engineering and manufacturing roles plus a further 1,700 in the wider supply chain, Khan was given a first look at a full-size mock-up of how the drivers cab and passenger car will look once the trains enter service in 2025.

Transport for London has options to order additional trains for the Bakerloo, Central and Waterloo & City lines, although Khan warned this would not be possible without sufficient long-term capital funding from central government.
