Reopening statistics

Relaying 11 miles of new track and installing 24,000 concrete sleepers and 29,000 tonnes of ballast was carried out in a record-breaking 20-day period, thanks in part to Balfour Beatty’s New Track Construction train.

The line was reopened ahead of schedule and over £10 million below budget, even after costs of £30m had been stripped out.
