CML callouts over the Storm Dudley and Eunice weekend of February 18-20 2022

Buildings remits - Eastern Region:

■ Luton station - Canopy repairs.

■ New Barnet - Hoarding repairs

■ Darlington station - Roof repairs.

■ Sheffield station - Roof leak.

■ Hexham Signal Box - Roof leak.

Civils remits - Eastern Region:

■ River Dove - underwater inspection of the piers and abutments to check for the presence of any new scour holes.

■ Culvert inspection­s - multiple.

■ Ackworth rockfall - attend site and make safe.

■ Adverse Weather Sites interventi­on and checks - Kirkstall, Calverley Lane, Calverley Cutting, Horsforth North, Horsforth South.

■ Springs Tunnel & Wooley Tunnel - adverse weather inspection­s, visual inspection regarding any leaning⁄fallen trees and⁄or material slipped on or near track following adverse weather.

■ Middlesbro­ugh Passenger Subway – attend site and undertake testing to soffit. Repair and make safe boarding⁄cladding that has suffered water ingress and remove loose material.

■ Marsh Lane Viaduct, Leeds - debris clearance and examinatio­ns.

Civils Remits - Western Region:

■ Lower Stretton - wash out⁄embankment failure.

■ Coed Glyn - flooded track. CML team spent all weekend pumping water to control flood levels and protect earthworks.

On the evening of Friday February 18, as Storms Eunice and Franklin did their worst, Network Rail received an urgent response fault request about a loose roof covering at Luton station. The roof’s top covering had begun to peel back, and if it continued to unravel it could potentiall­y have fouled and damaged the overhead line equipment.
