Bridge repairs on Levenmouth link
Inspections and repairs are taking place to five doubletrack underbridges on the £116.6 million Levenmouth rail link.
Each structure will be gritblasted to take it back to the base metal, corroded sections will be replaced, and new timber bridge decks installed.
Doing this undercover speeds the process, and stops old toxic lead paint leaking out into the environment and makes it easier to dispose of.
The upgrading of Thornton North Junction was completed in early March, while there is also work in Leven to prepare for the upgrading of the Bawbee Bridge.
All the work should be completed during August, with the five-mile line due to reopen in spring 2024.
