Amey seeks to aid engineers’ careers

Engineers struggling to get back to work with railway companies after a career break are to be helped by a new scheme being developed by Amey Consulting.

Amey has joined with Southampton-based STEM Returners to find ways of overcoming a common bias against some of them, despite a recognised national shortage of skilled people.

The scheme has already had over 200 successes, although surveys have shown that females and those from black and minority ethnic groups have the most problems regaining employment.
