Alycidon repairs close to completion
Class 55 ‘Deltic’ D9009 Alycidon nears the end of a comprehensive series of repairs at Barrow Hill on March 27. The locomotive has been out of action since suffering a serious failure while on a main line tour in March 2019. Built at Doncaster Works in 1961, it is one of six Deltics in preservation and one of three owned by the Deltic Preservation Society. It is booked to make its public reappearance at the Great Central Railway’s Spring Diesel Gala from April 29-May 2.
