£23m contract for Feltham work

The five-year resignalling of the intensive Feltham-Wokingham route west of London will be complete by April 2024, following the award of the £23 million contract for the final stage of the work.

Atkins, which has handled the project since its beginning, has been hired to see the work through to completion.

It will cover 80 miles of route, and 500 separate pieces of outdated equipment will have been modernised at a total of cost of £190m.

Phase 1 was noted as the first UK’s first digitally enabled interlocking system, with improved diagnostic and system performance monitoring.
