UK to aid Jamaican railway revival
Some of Jamaica’s lost railways may be restored with help from the University of Birmingham, following the signing of an engineering and technology agreement.
The memorandum was signed with Caribbean counterpart UTech during a two-day symposium in Jamaica on April 13/14.
Much of the Jamaica National Railway system is in disrepair, although there are plans to develop a tourist line between Kingston station and the Culture Yard museum and Bob Marley centre in Trench Town.
