New series of Secrets of the London Underground
UKTV’s Secrets of the London Underground returned to television screens for the start of a new series on May 5.
Series 2 kicked off with railway historian Tim Dunn again teaming up with the London Transport Museum’s Siddy Holloway to explore disused areas of the Jubilee Line at Charing Cross (now a famous film location), and to walk the Kennington Loop.
Airing on the Yesterday channel at 2000 each Thursday (and then available on catch-up on UKTV Play), all ten episodes explore abandoned and long-forgotten spaces on the Tube network including the disused stations at Brompton Road, King William Street and Marlborough Road.
Meanwhile, the duo also learn how the modern London Underground works, visiting locations including the turbine hall at a Thameside power station, which is the back-up generator for the whole system.
New Elizabeth Line stations are also visited before they are open to the public, plus a new tunnel, platform and concourse being built as part of the Bank Station upgrade.
