New assistance buggies at Euston

-

The entire fleet of passenger assistance buggies has been replaced at London Euston after 18 years in service.

In that time, it is estimated that the ten vehicles have made one million journeys between the main concourse and the platforms. Based on each trip being around a third of a mile, it means that passengers and luggage have been ferried a total of over 330,000 miles.

Network Rail has invested £200,000 in 12 new electric buggies to increase capacity, while also reducing maintenance costs and breakdowns among a fleet that is used by an average of 87,000 passengers a year (around 240 a day).
