‘Green corridor’ helps to expand bee colonies

HS2 Ltd has partnered with the Great British Bee Project to support the expansion of colonies of the threatened British Black Bee along the railway’s new ‘green corridor’. Main works contractor EKFB is working with GBBP to install around 14 hives in HS2’s newly created habitats. The GBBP is the UK’s only nationwide project which aims to reverse the decline of the species (Britain’s only native honey bee), by rearing queen bees and expanding colonies into new locations.
