Rail Live quiz

- IMECHE.

THE eagle-eyed among you will obviously note the absence of a RAIL Crossword in this issue.

The Crossword will return in RAIL 961, but in the next couple of issues we’ll be offering Stop & Examine mini-quizzes, starting with one to coincide with Rail Live (see our 48-page supplement).

By successfully answering our three questions, one reader will be in with a chance of winning a copy of British Railway Infrastructure since 1970, courtesy of Pen & Sword Transport (www.pen-and-sword.co.uk).

Written by regular RAIL contributor Paul Shannon, British Railway Infrastructure Since 1970 (hardback, 176 pages, retail price £25), examines the huge changes that have taken place in the past half a century on the British railway network.

The beginning of the period featured the final stages of the Beeching cuts, with the closure of some rural branches and lesser-used stations.

Since the 1980s, the tide has turned, and numerous lines and stations have joined or rejoined the network. And the long process of updating our railway signalling has continued apace.

Organised by RAIL, Rail Live is the largest outdoor rail exhibition in the UK. This year, it takes place at the Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre on June 22-23.

So, on to the questions:

1 The Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre, the venue for Rail Live, was once known by an alternative name, with the abbreviation QRTC. What did QRTC stand for?

2 Which rolling stock company leases the Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre?

3 At last year’s Rail Live, Vivarail’s D-Train carried passengers to the venue from which main line station?

Email your answers to rail@bauermedia.co.uk, clearly marking your entry as Rail Live competition. For full terms and conditions, see railmagazine.com. Closing date for entries is June 22 2022.
