NR sends railway tools to Ukraine
European rail operators cut through red tape to transport urgently-needed Network Rail maintenance vehicles 1,200 miles to the Ukraine.
NR responded to an urgent request from Ukrainian Railways to the International Union of Railways, after the invasion by Russia caused significant damage to railway infrastructure and safety risks for workers.
Helped by partners in the supply chain, NR donated four lorries loaded with spares and railway tools including generators, drills, jacks and cutting equipment. Five staff were given free travel through the Channel Tunnel, and they passed through six countries in three days.
