Response to UCR “later this year”

The Government intends to publish its response to the Union Connectivity Review “later this year”.

In an update to MPs on May 26, Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps said that further time was needed because several of the recommendations made in November 2021 by review author Sir Peter Hendy CBE concern ongoing projects.

“The A1 Morpeth-Ellingham [road] scheme is one such case, as it relates to Sir Peter’s recommendation for a multimodal study of the East Coast corridor to identify the best opportunities for improvement,” Shapps told the Commons.
