Govia accelerates digital ticketing

-

Govia says it is speeding up the transition to digital ticketing, by installing more barcode readers at station entry gates. It says this will give 100% coverage at many of its busiest locations.

It is reckoned that half of all fares in the UK are now paperless, and that the extra scanners will cut queues for all except those who want to make more complex journeys.

Great Northern and Thameslink stations now offer this service at every barrier at Flitwick, Harpenden, Hitchin, Huntingdon, Kings Lynn, Letchworth Garden

City, St Neots and Stevenage.

It is also offered on Thameslink’s cross-London services between Bedford/Peterborough/Cambridge and Brighton/Horsham/ Littlehampton/East Grinstead, and between Luton/St Albans and Sutton/Wimbledon/Rainham, plus services between London and Sevenoaks.

It also covers Southern services to the Sussex coast (Brighton, Worthing, Eastbourne, Bognor Regis and Hastings), parts of Surrey, Kent and Hampshire (Ashford International, Southampton, Portsmouth), and Gatwick Express.
