GWR pays tribute to Falklands veterans
Veterans from the South Atlantic Medal Association 1982 and local dignitaries gather at Plymouth station on June 14, for the unveiling of a special Falklands livery on a Great Western Railway Class 255 ‘Castle’ set. Power car 43040 was chosen to mark the 40th anniversary of the conflict, while the Class designation recognises the 255 British military personnel who lost their lives in the fight to liberate the islands following Argentina’s invasion. The train vinyl features roundels paying tribute to a war waged on land, at sea, and in the air.
