Reach Dartmouth on GWR tickets
Dartmouth, the Devonshire town whose station/booking office has never had any track, can now be reached on a single through ticket being issued this summer by Great Western Railway.
The train operator has teamed up with the Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat Company to provide a through connection by fast train to Paignton.
Passengers then take a steamhauled service and short ferry journey across the River Dart from Kingswear.
Dartmouth station building, which was opened by the original GWR in 1864, looks like a proper terminus from a distance, but was only ever a booking office because the company was unable to bridge the river from Kingswear.
