15-week-old baby injured after brick thrown at train

-

Northern and the British Transport Police are appealing for information after a baby was hit by flying glass when a brick was thrown at a train on the approach to Hull Paragon.

The incident happened close to Snuff Mill Lane at 1545 on June 20, when 15-week-old Esme Emmerson was travelling home with her parents, Jason and Kristina, following a day out in Bridlington.

Given its proximity to Hull Paragon, the train was able to safely reach the station, where the incident was reported and the unit taken out of service for repair.

“This was a totally reckless act by mindless individuals who gave no thought for other people’s safety,” said Northern Regional Director Tony Baxter.

“The consequence of a brick hitting a fast-moving train are potentially devastating. We can only give thanks that Esme wasn’t more seriously injured.

“Someone must know who threw that brick. I urge anyone with information about the events that led to Esme being hurt to contact the BTP.”

Anyone with information can contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 405040.
