Siggy is guest of honour at monument unveiling

- GTR.

Thameslink’s oldest employee, 82-year-old Siggy Cragwell, meets the Duke of Cambridge at London Waterloo on June 22.

National Rail Award-winner Siggy (RAIL 922), who began his career on the railways 60 years ago and who has been a popular figure at Elstree & Borehamwood since 2002, was guest of honour at the unveiling of the National Windrush Monument.

He told Prince William about his arrival in the UK from Barbados, and they talked about their mutual love for cricket.

Designed by Jamaican artist Basil Watson, the National Windrush Monument is designed to symbolise the courage, commitment and resilience of the thousands of men, women and children who travelled from Commonwealth countries to start new lives from 1948-71.
