Staff commended for lifesaving acts

Five Northern employees have been recognised for acts of bravery and saving lives, by receiving a Certificate of Commendation at the British Transport Police Pennine Sub-Divisional Awards.

They include crime reduction manager Phil Jones, who stepped in to detain a man in Harrogate who had been responsible for the assault of a conductor on a service calling at the station.

Although the incident occurred in September 2019, he has only just been formally recognised owing to the suspension of the awards during the pandemic.
