Track upgrade starts at Belper

A £500,000 track upgrade was due to get under way in Belper on July 9-10.

Around three miles of track, sleepers and ballast are being relaid on this key section of the Midland Main Line. receiving commendations were:

■ Stephen McHugh, who made a lifesaving intervention of a distressed female at Bolton station in September 2019;

■ Damian Greenhalgh, who made a lifesaving intervention at Manchester Victoria in December 2019;

■ Lorna Brown and David Greenslade, who stepped in to break up a fight of approximately 20 males at South Elmsall in May 2021; and

■ Dean Worthington, who made a lifesaving intervention of a distressed male on Dinting Viaduct in June 2021.
