Class 180s luggage van

-

It was good to read about the plans for East Midlands Railway to use Class 180s on summer trains from Derby to Skegness (RAIL 957). The HSTs are very much missed on these services.

To solve the problem of lack of luggage space on trains heading to seaside resorts such as Skegness, wouldn’t it be a good idea to add an extra carriage or converted wagon fitted to the unit, for baggage storage?

The outside could be used for advertising space - either for the railway company to advertise the benefits of travelling with them or rented out to companies to gain extra revenue.

If the railway wants to gain more leisure travellers, then they need to provide such facilities. Maybe the Cass 153s could have been used for this purpose, had they not been scrapped.
