Ukrainian Aid: your donations can save lives

-

More than £5,000 has already been donated to British Ukrainian Aid, this year’s National Rail Awards charity, through the Rail Ukraine Appeal and The Railway Family Prize Draw.

A donation of just £20 can buy a tourniquet, which can help save someone’s life. Tourniquets stop and control bleeding, enabling a wounded person to stay alive until medical help arrives.

£100 will buy tactical First Aid Kits containing items such as tourniquets and other items for urgent trauma treatment.

Basic Rescue systems, costing £716 each, comprise a versatile stretcher which provides patient protection and security when only two people instead of four are involved in a rescue operation (thus reducing the number of people risking their lives while evacuating casualties).

£1,200 can buy a Baby Warmer. These are needed by maternity hospitals and centres, as frequent air raids mean vulnerable babies have to be moved from intensive care to cold basements.

And £8,000 can buy an ambulance. The medical infrastructure in Ukraine has been significantly damaged following continuous attacks on health care. Ambulances will help to bring vital life-saving care to people in Ukraine and improve the quality of health services. They are also widely used for rescue operations and evacuation.

Every pound counts. And for every £10 you donate through https://gofund.me/c4fbf4e7 you can win one of more than 30 incredible prizes. And we can now reveal the third set of prizes:

■ Experience being a train driver in an Avanti simulator in Crewe, including travel to and from Crewe on an Avanti West Coast service (Avanti).

■ Trip for two to the top of the iconic Forth Bridge (Scotland’s Railway/Network Rail Scotland).

■ Exclusive behind the scenes tour for two of Neville Hill traincare centre in Leeds (Northern).
