Freight firms continue repaints on Class 66s
Both DB Cargo and Freightliner have stepped up their repainting programmes on their Class 66 fleets, to replace obsolete liveries with their current colours.
Many still retain EWS livery or the original green Freightliner livery, both of which have been outdated for over a decade.
Nearly all of their locomotives have never been repainted, which is as much as 24 years in the case of some of the DB Cargo units.
Recently repainted into DB Cargo red have been 66007/167, while Freightliner has had 66502/605 repainted into the Genesee & Wyoming orange livery.
Its Class 66s are visiting Wolverton Works for the work, following on from the ex-Anglia Class 90s that were all recently repainted there.
Freightliner has also had its third Class 08 repainted (08691). It was turned out in orange by Nemesis Rail at Burton, and follows 08785/891 in the livery.
Nemesis has also repainted its own 73114 into ‘as built’ BR blue with a small yellow panel.
