Solihull plans zero-carbon study
A research study to develop zero-carbon transport in Solihull over the next two decades has been commissioned by the town’s council, in conjunction with Transport for West Midlands.
The council says increasing dependence on cars is causing environmental and social challenges, conflicting with regional policy and ultimately limiting growth.
Consultancy Arcadis will “reimagine transport” to ensure “adequate connectivity” to meet the expected growth of the borough.
The study will review previous trials in Solihull and run focus groups/online surveys with residents to identify travel behaviour change insights.
Arcadis will then provide recommendations to inform a business case for a “large-scale, low-carbon mobility scheme”.
