More services in new DLR timetable

-

The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) will operate a new timetable from September 26, as a result of travel changes after the opening of the Elizabeth line in May, as well as increasing postCOVID usage.

There will be reduced waiting times for all services and less crowding at platforms, along with better connections with Elizabeth line trains at Canary Wharf, Custom House and Stratford stations. More frequent services will also run later in the evenings and at weekends.

With the integration of Elizabeth line services from November 6, DLR users will be only one change away from key destinations such as the West End and Heathrow Airport.

On the Stratford-Canary Wharf route, the weekday peak frequency is increased from every six/seven minutes to every four minutes. Off-peak daytime and early evening services will run every five minutes, rather than every ten minutes.

The weekday morning peak on the Stratford-Canary WharfLewisham section has every other train from Stratford continuing to Lewisham, providing a service every two to four minutes.

The Canning Town-Beckton shuttle is reintroduced off-peak, and for the first time during the peak. It doubles services from every eight to every four minutes in the peak, and every ten to five minutes off-peak.

Transport for London’s General Manager for the DLR Tom Page said: “We want to make sure the timetable provides the best possible service.”

From 2024, new airconditioned walk-through trains are due to enter service.
