‘Green’ generator reduces emissions
Ever keen to demonstrate its green credentials, HS2 says it has cut exhaust emissions by 95% at the Mace Dragados construction site at Euston, through its trials with a new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) generator.
It follows the successful use of a solar-battery hybrid power system incorporating a Clean Air Gas Engine (CAGE) in December 2020.
The new OakTec standalone CAGE generator is a direct replacement for a dieselpowered machine, and embraces technology already used in the motor industry. It has been funded by a government grant through Imperial College, London.
