£9.5m upgrade of Cumbria platforms

Network Rail has commenced a £9.5 million project to extend platforms at five stations in Cumbria.

Construction has already started at Oxenholme, with Staveley, Kents Bank, Dalton and Ulverston to follow in the next three months.

To facilitate the work, the line between Ulverston and Barrow in Furness will shut from October 8-16. Kent Bank will be closed for one weekend (September 17-18), while no trains will call at Staveley on October 2 or 23.
