‘Long Weekender’ trial on GWR

Great Western Railway is trialling a new ‘Long Weekender’ ticket out of Paddington to Bristol and South Wales, with discounts of over 60% for those who set out on a Friday and Saturday and return at any time on a Monday.

The move is in response to a change in passenger habits, with an increase in leisure travellers but a decline in the number of commuter journeys being made. Sunday services have therefore become increasingly busy, and GWR hopes to free up services for that day.
