Gilruth backs rail’s future in Scotland
Scottish Transport Minister Jenny Gilruth has reemphasised the need to develop strong railway infrastructure north of the border, and of ensuring that high-speed trains can link to Scotland once construction of HS2 is completed.
At a fringe event (organised by the Railway Industry Association) at the Scottish National Party conference in Aberdeen on October 9, Gilruth stressed the leading part that rail will play in supporting the Scottish Government’s goal of achieving net zero by 2045.
“It was great to see Jenny Gilruth being so constructive in discussing priorities for Scotland’s Railway,” said Meirion Thomas, who chairs RIA Scotland.
“We are also pleased she acknowledged the role the rail supply sector can play in supporting jobs and boosting the economy.”
