- Grant for Talyllyn Metro bridge works Half-term campaign

The narrow gauge Talyllyn Railway in Wales has landed a £110,000 National Lottery Heritage Fund grant. It will be used to remodel its headquarters station building at Tywyn and to build a new engineering facility and educational display.

The installation of a further bridge for West Midlands Metro's Wednesbury-Brierley Hill extension has required the closure of a section of Sedgley Road East in Tipton from October 24 until mid-December.

A three-week campaign was operated during the October half-term holiday and into the autumn by the Community Rail Network, to try to coax families back onto trains.
