More LU payments made via mobiles
More people are using contactless payment via a mobile phone or smart watch to travel on London Underground than before the pandemic, according to new figures released by Transport for London.
During a four-week period in August, around 485,000 journeys a day were being made on the Tube using a mobile device, equating to 25% of all adult pay-as-you-go journeys.
This compares with January 2020, when around 400,000 contactless journeys were made using a mobile phone or smart watch (16% of all adult PAYG journeys).
