Upgrades to boost Ebbw Vale service
The Ebbw Vale line reopened on October 31, following a nine-day engineering blockade.
Approximately 10,000 work hours were completed to deliver a series of upgrades that will enable the introduction of an hourly service on the route.
A bridge was replaced at Newbridge, while the foundations were installed for a new platform at Llanhilleth. Along the line, 20km (12½ miles) of signalling cable was installed, as well as four trackside cabinets.
Further closures are due to follow until next summer as part of the £70 million project.
