Rare sightings on Marlow branch
The Marlow branch was closed for a nine-day engineering blockade on October 22-30, with all trains replaced by buses. Approximately half a mile of track was replaced in the vicinity of Cookham station, and engineering trains were operated by Freightliner from Hinksey Yard to support the work. This gave a rare opportunity to see locomotivehauled trains on the Bourne End section of the branch during daylight hours. On October 29, Freightliner 66551 waits near Cookham at the front of a train being loaded with used sleepers and spoil. 66543 is on the rear.
