New facility to train TfW drivers

Transport for Wales has opened a new training facility and state-of-the-art simulator.

One City Place in Chester will play a key role in training 64 drivers and 56 conductors to operate a fleet of 77 new Class 197s. The first ‘197’ is in the final stages of testing before entry into service this winter.

Once this training is complete, the new facility will be a main training hub for station and office staff, dispatchers and TfW’s depot workforce.
