Freightliner Class 86/6 plans
FREIGHTLINER IS to withdraw its remaining Class 86/6s, but it is planning to overhaul them at some point for a return to service at a later date. Their duties are being assumed by the 13 Class 90s recently acquired from Greater Anglia (leased from Porterbrook). As at mid December 2020 Freightliner had nine operational Class 86/6s (86604, 607, 608, 609, 613, 632, 637, 638 and 639). Of these 86608 was stopped at Crewe for maintenance and 86632 was at Leeds Midland Road for tyre turning. The freight operator has said it intends to retain them as it looks to expand it electric-powered freight flows in the future.
