Class 20 reprieve for Yorkshire RHTT

-

DESPITE DIRECT Rail Services standing its Class 20s down in 2020 and using Class 37s (37402, 37407 and 37423) for the Yorkshire RHTT circuit, ‘Choppers’ returned in November when some of the Class 37s required attention on the wheel lathe at Toton. HNRC 20311/314 were despatched from Worksop to York on November 20, 2020. However, the 20s were quickly in trouble the next day while working from Sheffield to Woodburn Junction near Rotherham when 20314 shut down. On arrival at Woodburn Junction the planned 3Z13 circular from/to Woodburn Junction via Wakefield was replaced with a new 3Z13 from Woodburn Junction to Worksop to get the HNRC hired Class 20s back to base. 20118 and 20132 were called in to replace the first pair on November 23. The pairing continued on the Yorkshire diagrams into December.
