‘Clan’ Project starts bogie fundraising

-

THE STANDARD Steam Locomotive Company (SSLC), building BR 4-6-2 72010 Hengist at CTL Seal’s factory in Sheffield, has started an appeal to raise £22,000 to complete the front bogie. 2020 was a landmark year for the project, with the assembly of completed elements providing the first tantalising glimpse of a ‘Clan’ since the last of the class was scrapped in 1966. The next stage is to construct the bogie suspension system, including the spring cradle plates, spring brackets and leaf springs and the completion of the remaining axle.
