Orange-liveried 09106 has become the latest HNRC shunter to succumb to the rigours of the Celsa duties at Cardiff Tidal, it being recovered to Barrow Hill on February 8 to join the equally poorly 08630.

RMS Locotec

The hire company took full control of shunting at Wolverton Works on February 15 with the arrival of 08762, it joining 08754 that had been on site since November 25 last year. The former had departed Great Yarmouth two days earlier for a weekend layover. The hire duty with Eastern Rail Services at Yarmouth is now being covered by Sentinel 0-4-0 10070/1961, which arrived earlier on February 13 from Wolsingham and carries the number of H003.

With the Wolverton contract lost, 08752 made its exit from the works in the final days of January, heading initially to the Chasewater Railway and then onwards to Wishaw around two weeks later when space had been found for it. Also making the latter move to Wishaw at the same time was 08703, with stablemate 08738 heading in the opposite direction to the Chasewater for testing after repairs.

Having failed back in November, 08784 was repaired in situ at Longport and was back in use by the end of January. As a result, covering shunter 08922 was poised to depart the Stoke depot in mid-February to the Chasewater Railway once the reliability of its sister was proven.
