THE PERIOD under review was a busy one for the Toton paint shop, it first outshopping 66126 in DRS blue in late January, this being the second of the long-term hired-in Class 66s to be repainted. Attention then turned to the home fleet with 66085 repainted into DB colours while 60054 was also given a fresh coat of red. Both duly appeared with DB’s latest environmental proclamation adorning their bodysides, this being ‘Powered by HVO - Reducing our carbon footprint’. Meanwhile, at Southampton Maritime, 08785 has been given a surprise repaint into Freightliner’s orange and black scheme.
Headlining the unit repaints is the appearance of the first Class 150 in Transport for Wales colours, 150236 being painted at Cardiff Canton during overhaul. Amongst the Avanti West Coast fleet, 221115 has become the first Super Voyager to be re-liveried, losing its previous Bombardier vinyls in the process. In addition, a final push by the company has seen the remaining Pendolinos receive their Avanti vinyls on the driving coaches. Stage two of the process is now underway with the intermediate cars now being done with 390049 and 390123 the first to be completed.
At Eastleigh Works, 319009 has become the second set to be painted and then receive the Orion Logistics vinyls while all of the remaining Class 170 centre cars that are transferring from West Midlands Railway to CrossCountry have been prepared and repainted at Bristol Barton Hill, the quartet now just awaiting forming into their new sets.
