Road Rail Vehicle for Cambrian Heritage

-

THE CAMBRIAN Heritage Railways has purchased an O&K MH5 Road Rail Vehicle from Plant Hire Ltd of Stafford. The machine, which looks like an excavator, arrived at Oswestry on March 3 and is expected to significantly enhance the range and speed of tasks undertaken by CHR permanent way volunteers. Pete McCracken, a CHR trustee said: “This RRV is a huge step forwards in our capability and will allow mechanical assistance to areas which previously were limited to manual work.”

There aren’t many similar vehicles in use in the heritage sector, so it will certainly be an interesting addition to the railway’s fleet.
