Appeal helps Manors on way back to steam

-

MORE THAN £15,000 has been received by the Erlestoke Manor Fund in donations and share purchases in response to its ‘2 for 2020’ appeal. On top of that, the EMF will be able to claim Gift Aid on the majority of donations that will further boost the support. With both locos out of action from the second half of 2019, the EMF trustees decided to launch an appeal to raise funds to speed up the return of 7802 Bradley Manor and 7812 Erlestoke Manor to work from their base on the Severn Valley Railway.

The appeal raised a significant part of the funds required for the new piston heads and piston rods for both locos, along with enabling contract engineering staff to continue with other aspects of 7812’s overhaul, now at an advanced stage. In February the machined cylinder blocks for 7802 were delivered to Tyseley Locomotive Works.
