Northern creates threecar Class 150s

THE LONG proposed plan to reform a handful of Northern Class 150s into three-car sets finally commenced at Newton Heath during early April. A total of four sets are planned to be introduced by the May 17 timetable change with them working diagrams from Rochdale to Blackburn and Clitheroe alongside the two prototype sets 150001 and 150002. By the middle of April, 150004 had been formed from 150112 with 57212 inserted in the centre while 150003 was in progress, it featuring 150116 and 57209. Also due to be created are 150005 from 150117 and 52224 and 150006 utilising 150147 and 57224.
