Black Five heads for Scotland

-

THE KEIGHLEY & Worth Valley Railway’s 45212 spends most of the year in the hands of Ian Riley on West Coast Railway’s Fort WilliamMallaig Jacobite trains in Scotland, but it returns to the West Yorkshire line for winter maintenance. Having seen very little use at Keighley this winter due to COVID-19 lockdowns (it ran a couple of days in service just after Christmas), the loco returned to the main line on April 9, running light engine to Carnforth. From there it was due to travel to Fort William to work alongside North Yorkshire Moors Railway-based K1 2-6-0 62005 in its last year of service before overhaul next winter.
