Class 442s go for scrap

Making for a rather unusual sight on the WCML, the aptly liveried 66783, drags 442420 and 442402, sandwiched between 73212 and 73213 for brake force, on the down fast at Linslade Tunnel on June 28, forming the 5Q81 Eastleigh East Yard to Wolverton Works. Following the cancellation of their re-tractioning and refurbishment programme, the 442s will undergo component recovery at Wolverton before eventual scrapping.
