Is my train on time?

-

CONSTANTLY UPDATED live train information has come to the Swanage Railway in a first for a preserved railway, – thanks to Realtime Trains and a grant from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage. In another national first, the live Swanage Railway train information is also available on the main Realtime Trains website at www.realtimetrains.co.uk. Housed in 1950s notice boardstyle frames, digital screens give train times as well as information about the loco hauling the train and the facilities (such as where the accessibility coach is in the formation). Installed at Swanage and Corfe Castle stations, more information boards will follow at Norden and Harmans Cross stations. The new system uses global positioning system (GPS) tracking equipment installed in the carriages that constantly relays the position of the trains.

?? (Ben Bucki) ?? A busy, sunny Bank Holiday weekend saw the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways running an intensive service over their lines. The railway rostered two Doublefairlies David Lloyd George and Merddin Emrys for the runs to Beddgelert, the ‘Glaslyn Venturer’. The pair cross the road/rail bridge at Pont Croeser, returning to Porthmadog on May 31.
