And the end of the day…

It’s good to be back!

AFTER 85 years away A1X Terrier 0-60T Knowle visited the Isle of Wight to be part of its 50th Anniversary Gala on June 4-6. Based on the island from 1929 to 1936, it was used on the quieter branch lines and named Bembridge following the tradition of naming engines after the island’s towns and villages. Now based at the Kent & East Sussex Railway and named Knowle, it arrived on May 27 via the Wightlink ferry at Fishbourne for a month’s stay at Havenstreet. The 50th Anniversary Gala saw the line steam three original Isle of Wight engines, with Knowle joining residents O2 0-4-4T W24 Calbourne and A1X W11 Newport.
