Following repairs and a successful test run during the previous week, 56006 was declared fit to take part in the East Lancashire Railway’s July 1-3 diesel event, with the locomotive working on all three days of the home fleet gala.

In light of the easing of national restrictio­ns, the Gloucester­shire Warwickshi­re Railway announced a Summer Diesel Gala Day at short notice for July 30, featuring Class 24 5081, 37215, 45149 and 47376 Freightlin­er 1995. A two-day diesel event is planned to take place on September 25/26.

South Devon Railway-based 33002 Sea King is heading to the Spa Valley Railway for a short summer season. The recently repainted Class 33 is due to take part in the Spa Valley’s August 6-8 diesel gala.

With coronaviru­s restrictio­ns being lifted from July 19, the Bodmin and Wenford Railway held a special diesel running day on July 24 with 47306 The Sapper working all services throughout the day.

The Great Central Railway has returned to normal running from the start of July, which includes three diesel-hauled round trips on Saturdays. On Sundays, one of the lines DMUS does the honours.
